Antonio Sergio Balloney Arrives in America

Balloney in the U.S.A.

Some of you have written and said, "Balloney is spelled B-A-L-O-N-E-Y". Ah, of course in the new world that's how it's done, but for centuries the Ballony's have proudly used the name B-A-L-L-O-N-E-Y. (Except for numerous Balloney's who would just use an "X")

In 1723, Antonio Sergio Balloney invented something similar, but much more foul tasting than SPAM. He was thrown out of the old country when Sergio tried to sell his meaty concoction to the Duchess of Petrovia. She became ill and Sergio was banished to the Great Desert of Erithromiacyn. He lived for twenty years on his meaty treat, which actually contained not meat but palm oil.

Here you can view an historic photo of Bourigard Balloney being checked in at Ellis Island, New York. The person who was writing down his name thought he only needed one "L" to write his name. Hence the spelling of his name is different than what you might think.

Another Balloney scholar suggests that the name originated with the Frenchman Antione Ballonet, which as you know, Ballonet, (pronounced Ball-on-nay) is a compartment of variable volume within the interior of a balloon or airship used to control ascent and descent. The Balloney's were well known to carry and give off massive amounts of hot air.
